Commercial Finance Manager
The Opportunity Our client, a major player in Australia's infrastructure sector, has established a dedicated team to investigate and report on a significant capital project budget overrun. They require an experienced Commercial Finance Manager to lead the financial analysis and reporting workstream of this critical review.
This is a high-profile contract requiring strong technical accounting expertise, commercial acumen, and the ability to deliver under tight timeframes and external scrutiny.
The Role
As Commercial Finance Manager, you will:
- Lead financial analysis of budget variance and cost performance
- Conduct detailed analysis of project costs, expenditure trends, and budget forecasts
- Identify and quantify cost drivers, variances, and contributing factors
- Prepare comprehensive financial reports, papers, and briefings for executive leadership
- Develop financial models and scenario analyses to support decision-making
- Present findings and recommendations to steering committees and senior stakeholders
About You - CA or CPA qualified (essential)
- Proven experience as a Finance Manager or Commercial Finance Manager in large corporate environments
- Strong FP&A and commercial finance experience with capability in variance analysis and financial investigations
- Demonstrated ability to analyse complex financial data and identify key drivers
- Exceptional analytical skills and attention to detail
- Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills
- Excellent communication skills with ability to present complex financial information clearly
- Experience in infrastructure, construction, or projects highly regarded but not essential
